Mindfulness/Somatic Therapy in San Francisco, Bay Area & Los Angeles, CA

Does your mind wander into somewhat dark places with no other options but to push down or avoid the thoughts entirely so it doesn’t hijack all of your thoughts? I can support you to work with the conditions of the mind to serve you rather than devour you.

Can you relate to any of the following experiences?

  • Get sucked into emotions and over identify with the feelings/emotions.

  • Feel disconnected from or even apathetic toward yourself.

  • React as opposed to breathing and taking a pause to respond.

  • Have a difficult time accepting things as they are and wish it would be different; or better yet, they would be different.

  • Seek external validation whether it be through persons, places, or things.

  • Feel out of balance, have a difficult time focusing and staying present in the moment.

  • Criticize yourself internally rather than being curious with parts of yourself.

Life doesn’t have to be that distracting and emotions don’t have to be your enemy. I can teach you how to utilize ways to work with the body, soma, and mindfulness to begin to observe your inner and external experiences with curiosity.

Mindfulness/Somatic Therapy has the potential to…

  • Reduce stress.

  • Increase internal harmony and equanimity (even-mindedness).

  • Regulate or balance your emotional state.

  •  Create tolerance for distressing emotions.

  • Cultivate clarity and unconditional love.

  •  Impact inflammatory and epigenetic responses.

  • Develop self-awareness and self-compassion for oneself and others.

  • Activate a part of your nervous system, the parasympathetic response, so that you are in a calm state, becoming rested and the mind expansive.

  • Decrease the level of rumination that is often followed by anxiety or depression.

  • Create structural changes in the brain.

  • Become present to what is naturally arising.

As someone who has transformed anxiety and pain, I get it. Somatic mindfulness teaches that pain comes from an attachment to life that is perceived as predictable and consistent, when everything around us, including the mind and body, is constantly in a state of flux. It is my hope that by teaching these practices, you too will start to develop a compassionate relationship, starting with yourself.
